Assam’s only ''Green Village'' Jakhalabandha

Jakhalabandha goes green in bid to be Gateway to Kaziranga

Over 500 shops and business establishments of Jakhalabandha area paints their structures green heeding the call of the Kaliabor subdivision administration that has started a ‘Green Jakhalabandha Clean Jakhalabandha’ campaign to project Jakhalabandha as the ‘Gateway to Kaziranga’.
The campaign aims at projecting Jakhalabandha as the Gateway to Kaziranga with thrust on greenery, cleanliness and hygiene, scientific waste management, development of home-stay facilities, an organic farming in sync with the Swachh Bharat Mission and Solid Waste Resource Management
The administration also interacted with rag-pickers and distributed a tricycle van for transportation of garbage. The aim is to segregate and collect waste at source and ensure scientific disposal and manage waste without dustbin and make it to be a pollution-free and plastic-free zone, which  would facilitate large-scale plantation across the subdivision and involve the local populace in organic farming.
With this step Kaliabor as a whole can well emerge as a tourist destination. It has all the potential and the only need is to engage the local communities purposefully. Being so near to Kaziranga aim is also on encouraging home-stay so that the people can directly host the tourists coming to Kaziranga National Park and nearby areas.
