Chaos, Coach and Cricket

They call cricket a gentlemen’s game, ever since I started watching cricket I was forced to believe so, I have observed gentlemen from many countries and was shocked to see how they defined the term. Born and brought up in England, this game is now played in over 20 countries and out of them 12 countries is honored with the status of playing Test cricket which happens to be the most prestigious format of the game.

It is said that 11 players a side is mandatory to play the game but recently my observation says that not only 11 players but also the support staff and coaches are as valuable as the players are, it is not a new concept though, we all are aware of the fact that every team has their own set of support staff in every department like batting , bowling, fielding and also a special team is dedicated to look after the players fitness, but never in my imagination I could think that those departments will be manipulated by a set of lobbyist or in a cruel sense I can call them as politicians.

Post 2017 Champions Trophy, team India came up with certain changes, Head coach and former Indian Captain Anil Kumble resigned from the post making ways for those who were keeping an eye to get hold of the prestigious position of being a coach of one of the best team in the world, or say one of the richest team in the world.

The runner up in the previous coach selection turned up to be the winner this time, it is said that the same person applied only when he was assured with the post, if so, why was the drama of selection process undertaken? I will agree with the fact that Ravi Shastri is the only man among other who understands the need and requirement of the team and as they are eyeing 2019 world cup he is the man who needs to start a process so that the team can send the perfect combination of player to participate in the mega event but how is the role of a head coach defined? What are the roles of consultants here?  Zaheer Khan has been appointed as bowling consultant and Rahul Dravid will play the role of batting consultant in overseas tour, there is also talks going around that Jason Gillespie of Australia will be also roped in case of overseas bowling assignments and Jonty Rhodes will work as a fielding coach for overseas tour. Fielding coach for overseas, are you serious? How is it different form home or sub continent matches? What will be the role of Zaheer Khan if Jason comes into action, moreover what will Bharat Arun do, who has been working with the bowling unit over 3 years now. Sanjay Banger is also the present batting coach of the team and he has produced some good result over the period of time and moreover what will be his role in overseas condition. If we come into solution with all the above questions, we will end up asking, what will the Head Coach do ???
